Wednesday WIP

It was the perfect afternoon to sit down with a cup of tea, a nice breeze flowing through the house, and work on a little thank you gift. I've got a couple projects in the works, and a few more simmering on the back burner (metaphorically of course, as I'm a hopeless hot mess in the kitchen)... There's never a lack of crafty projects I guess!

What are you guys working on?

And now back to your regularly scheduled program...

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!  I certainly did; it felt like the middle of summer.  Now I have to work on getting back into the crafty swing of things!

London Day 8

So sadly I am back home and missing porridge and fish and chips...  I had a fantastic time, and feel like we saw a lot in the time we had, but could definitely see going back to see more!  Our last day we went to Westminster, the National Gallery, Buckingham Palace, and St. James' Park.  Here's a few shots from Zumi and my phone.  (The first few pictures are from the beautiful place we stayed!  The Coach House)

London Day 7: Part 2

(I had to get a picture of an owl at the zoo!!!)

London Day 7: Part 1

I can't believe yesterday was our seventh day here!  It was another beautiful day to be outside!  We went to the zoo, walked through Regents Park, shopped around in Piccadilly Circus, Leicester Square and Covent Garden, and finished off the day doing the London Eye just about at sunset.  Perfect.  And again I'm getting too attached to my photos, so here's just my Zumi pictures, and my phone pictures will be in the next post:

London Day 6

Yesterday was beautiful out!!  High 70's!  It was the perfect day for Stonehenge and Bath!  Both were amazing and I had to keep reminding myself how old everything was!  At home we're not used to having things with this much history...  Just incredible!  Phone and Zumi pics:

London Day 5: Part 2

And here are my phone pictures....

London Day 5: Part 1

So we've been enjoying the BEAUTIFUL weather here!!!  Yesterday we went to Windsor castle, which was really neat.  Queen Mary's Dolls' House was very impressive with its working lights and water, and miniature paintings made by artists who had painted for the actual castle!  We all thought of my Gram when we looked at the Princesses' Dolls and their doll dresses (she makes doll dresses!).  Then we checked out the Chelsea Physic Garden, which was pretty and was a great place to just walk around and chill out after our train rides to and from Windsor.

I took pictures with Zumi and my phone again, but had trouble deciding which to show without throwing twenty plus pictures at you in one post... soooo here's my Zumi pictures:

London Day 4

Yesterday was yet another fabulous day!!!  We started the day off with some culture by going to the Tate Modern which had the Damien Hirst Exhibit (which was controversial, gross, beautiful and amazing), and going to the Globe Theater where we got to see some actors practicing Coriolanus in Japanese (the Globe is doing all of the Shakespeare plays in several languages in celebration of the Olympics).  Then we headed over the Millenium Bridge to St. Paul's Cathedral and walked its 528 steps up to the top for some amazing views of London!  After the stairs work out, we thought we should do something sitting down, so we took a little river boat tour down the Thames and got some great views from the water!  We couldn't take pictures in the Damien Hirst Exhibit or in the cathedral, but here are a few Zumi and phone pics:

London Day 3

We had another lovely day yesterday!  Let's see, we went to the Tower Bridge, Tower of London (which is HUGE!), and did the London Bridge Experience which we discovered was basically a bit of history inside a haunted house.  I will admit I screamed a few times and practically rode my friend's back through a majority of it!  "Um, I don't think this is historically accurate...."  Anyways, yesterday I ended up taking more video than pictures, but here's a few pictures from Zumi and my phone:

London Day 2

Yesterday jet lag was not an issue (thanks everyone!), and we put in a pretty full day with lots of walking!  (Although leg soreness might be an issue now, haha, but definitely not complaining!)  We did Portobello Road (I couldn't stop hearing the song from Bed Knobs and Broomsticks in my head), Kensington Palace and Garden, Hyde Park, Harrod's, and finished off the day with some fish and chips!  Here's a mix of pictures from my Zumi and phone:

London First Day

Here's a few shots from yesterday!  We were exhausted after our day of travel and very little sleep, but we were able to zombie walk around for a little sight seeing...  (Pictures taken with my little Zumi)

Wednesday, May 16, 2012

Hey guys!  So it may be a little quiet around here as I'm about ready to go on a little vacation with some friends.... to LONDON!!  I'm so excited!!  But I believe we have wifi where we are staying, so you might hear from me periodically, as I hope to be taking lots of pictures!!

If you've been, what were your favorite things there?!

Hope you all have a lovely week, and "see" you soon!

Yellow and Purple
Yellow and Purple
After a bit of playing around with the PixlrOMatic app on my phone, I ended up with this yellow and purple version of the underside of the canvased roof of a kids' outdoor play set. Wow, did that make sense?

29-45 Doily

I thought I'd share some doilies I just recently made as part of a bridal shower gift for a friend.  The charted pattern for this doily can be found here, and if you have Ravelry, here is the pattern page.  I love this pattern, and this is the second doily I've made from it.

Supernatural Gifts

Supernatural Cross Stitch

I giggled to myself after I wrote the title to the list of (late) birthday gifts I was planning to make for my cousin: "Maria's Supernatural Gifts."  By "Supernatural" I meant the tv show Supernatural of course since Maria is a big Supernatural fan!  (She got me watching the show [which is on Netflix!], and now I'm almost done with Season 3.)

Tantra Song Block 4

Tantra Block 4

"The two eternal poles of the world meet, multiply and converse."
-Franck Andre Jamme from Tantra Song.

Don't you think diametric opposites can work beautifully together, and create amazing energy?  Can you see examples of this in your life?

(Lately I've really been liking the green and pink combination!)

Blue and Orange
Blue and Orange

This week I realized how little orange I see everyday!  That's ridiculous, considering this year's color is Tangerine Tango!!  Friday I took a picture of a friend's blue and orange abstract painting, but I didn't realize until later that the colors didn't take very well...  Luckily I babysit a boy with an orange and blue football!

Next week:  Purple and Yellow

Tantra Song Inspired Crochet Blocks

Tantra Song Inspired Crochet Blocks

I crocheted these two blocks last night as an excuse to tell you about the most beautiful book I got in the mail yesterday!  My sister originally tried to get Tantra Song by Franck Andre Jamme for me at Christmas, but there was a mix up where she ordered it, and they sold out.  But, being the awesome sister she is, she pre-ordered it for the next printing, and now the much anticipated book is finally in my hands!

Red and Green
Red and Green

I've really been into the red and green combo lately!  This is a picture of a green bench against a red wall that I snapped quickly while shopping the other day.  I also rotated the picture to put the green on the side instead of the bottom.
