Hi, my name is Kate and I have a doily problem... I just finished unpinning these beauties, want to see more?

I don't think I can ever work on just one thing at a time... One of my projects right now is playing with some vintage doily patterns that my mom brought home from Idaho when she was visiting my grandmother. I've got one almost finished and a couple of more I'm probably going to have to try as well... I just love looking through old patterns! Don't you?
Hope you all have a great Monday, I'm off to catch up on my blog reading!

I'm learning to knit! And I'm having more success this time! I think the key for me this time was trying the Continental Method as opposed to the American/English Method... I finally pulled out The Absolute Best Way to Learn How to Knit with Leslye Solomon dvd that I bought from this nice little local yarn shop when I was living in California. The owner was so nice and helpful and told me that a lot of crocheters have an easier time knitting Continental because they can hold the yarn in their left hand and primarily move their right hand, just like in crochet (unless you are a left handed crocheter). She's so right! I haven't moved passed the knit stitch yet, as I want to make sure I really have it down before moving on to purling, but so far this dvd is great!
For those of you who can crochet and knit, which method do you use to knit? Did you learn to crochet or knit first? Do you prefer one over the other?

In which I share with you projects made of vintage goodness and brag of my sister's crafty talents.
Today I'm showing you some of the gifts that my super talented sister made. Our friend has a thing for birds (her photography business is Bird On A Wire Photography), so my sister wanted to make an art piece with the quote "birds of a feather flock together."

In which I share with you projects made of wood and paint, and I make a very bad pun (for the second time [for those of you following along at home]).
Just like for the wedding I went to earlier in the summer, I made a set of mahogany tea light candle holders. I've been dying to try painting sections of something turned to give it a dip-dyed look, so I thought this was the perfect opportunity... and I think I got it!

In which I share with you projects made of burlap and crochet, and confess my recent love affair with spray adhesive.
I knew my friend was using burlap and lace for decoration at her reception, so as part of her wedding gift I made these burlap and doily wall hangings. I was so pleased with how they turned out!!

I've joined a CAL over at one of my favorite blogs, a creative being, to make Crochet Overlay Mandala No. 1 by Carola Herbst. I've just started, and I must say it's really fun, and it's a very well written pattern! If you're interesting, go HERE for the details and to check out wink's beautiful mandala!

Saturday I helped out at a golf tournament that raised money for our lake association. My job was to take pictures of the teams. It was the first time I'd ever been on a golf course while people were actually playing golf! (I can't really count sledding down hills in the winter on my local golf course.) Anyways, it was a beautiful (and hot) day, and while I was waiting for teams to get to the tenth hole where I was stationed, I took other pictures...
