Animals never cease to make me smile. I was at my parents' house the other day, and Pete crawled up into my lap. You guys, Pete does not have a reputation for being a very nice cat. The number of times this has happened can be counted on both hands. I must say, it feels pretty nice to be missed!
Also, while I had a Pete in my lap, I was reading the most amazing card from some very dear friends. It made me more than smile; it made me cry! It makes me marvel at all the incredible people (and animals) that I'm lucky enough to have in my life, and how much they have made an impact on me!
I hope you all have a fantastic Sunday and keep smiling!!

Just a quick little check-in with the doily-along! I see there's been a ton of traffic to Part 1, and I hope everyone who is crocheting along hasn't had any problems with the directions!
One thing I'd like to mention about doilies is that they NEVER look perfect while you're working on them. They tend to look, for lack of a better word, "crumpled," as you can see in the photo above! So don't worry if it seems uneven or doesn't seem to lay flat. We'll work magic on them in the (final) Part 4!
See you tomorrow for Part 2, where we'll be crocheting and joining the rest of the motifs!
p.s. You should check out my friend Ale's progress on her blog! She's working the doily in bright and beautiful acrylic yarn!

Happy Sunday everyone! What's been making you smile lately? We've had some lovely skies with some fantastic clouds! I was driving through some rain showers on Thursday near sunset and so badly wished I had my camera with me and a place to pull off and take pictures. Sometimes the sky can be more beautiful on stormy days, especially when the sun starts to peek through. I'm reminded of this often seen quote:
"Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass... It's about learning to dance in the rain." - Vivian Greene
I've also been smiling because I seem to have a lot going on, and it all feels good and right, and I feel on top of everything so far (knock on wood!), when I could otherwise be feeling overwhelmed! I suppose you could say I'm doing my own little dance in the rain!
Wishing you a day full of smiles my friends!
(p.s. This is my 500th post! Another reason to smile!)

Call me crazy, but vintage doily patterns make me smile! Do you know what else makes me smile? You fellow crochet lovers out there! And do you know another thing that makes me smile? Combining things that make me smile to make me smile even more! Can you see where this is going?
I've been thinking lately about how I've been neglecting the crochet part of my blog, and would love to do something that would involve you, my dear readers. Does some sort of crochet-along, perhaps involving a doily or some other technique that you would like to learn or improve upon, that we could all walk through together, sound like fun? Maybe you've always wanted to try a doily but find it intimidating or find the vintage directions hard to read? Maybe you'd like to try a vintage motif like the one in the picture above that I have started?
So I'd love any input and ideas from you guys, and maybe we can all crochet something together! Christmas is just around the corner...
Happy Sunday my lovely friends!

I mentioned the new curtains for my room at my Grandma's awhile ago (here), and I've finally gotten around to writing a post about them! I needed new window dressings as the previous ones didn't quite block out the light from the street lamp at night. After researching different options, I found my answer lied with blackout fabric! I didn't even know blackout fabric existed!
