Doily-Along Part 3

Untitled

Ready to put the edge on your doily? If you're still making motifs, this part of the tutorial will be here when you're ready!

Untitled
Join Color B with a sc in any joining...
(make your sc right into the sl st of join between motifs)

Untitled
ch 3, sl st in top of sc for picot...
(For making picot, insert your hook into the front loop and the left vertical bar under the front loop of the sc. The needle in the photo shows where you would insert your hook, and then make your sl st.)

(Here I've chained three, and inserted my hook into the front loop and the left vertical bar of the sc...)

Once you get going, it's not hard to pick up on the pattern. All of the directions make it seem more difficult than it really is!

Congratulations on finishing the crochet part of your doily!

Remember, it will most likely look wrinkly and crumply, but no fear! We shall make it look all pretty in Part 4!!

On Saturday, let's make it next wednesday, I'll be showing you the very last step: blocking!

Comments

  1. It looks wonderful, Kate, though I'm not looking forward to the dreaded picots stage! I'm just starting my sixth doily and sewing in ends, I'll start joining after that. I can't keep up at your speed!!

  2. Thank you, Kate! This is my first ever doily and my fingers are finally getting used to manipulating this scale of work. Just finished the 7th individual with ends sewn in (we're going at it at the same rate, eh, Sandra above?)....
Anyway, looking forward to catching up though i have a feeling i won't be ready to block by Saturday. Still, it is fun to see which way the doily train is going since i am along for the ride! Thanks to Allesandra's inspiration, I just started a scarf/shawl using this pattern on a large scale with a soft burnt orange and blue-grey and a few other autumnal left overs from my stash- now that is going quickly, good muscle memory for dk wool scale, i guess....it's therapeautic to see that i can move faster than i microscopic snail with "regular" wool....
    Anyway, thank you!

    1. Oh great!! Take your time with it! I decided to do the blocking post next wednesday instead! It'll give everyone (including me) more of a chance to catch up! I'd love to see both of your projects when you're done!
      Happy doiling,
      Kate :}
