Little Mermaid

Untitled

Today I'm sharing a little mermaid I made for Christmas. She is a conglomeration of Disney's The Little Mermaid, Klara the Mermaid pattern by Cinnamon Purl and Mici the Mermaid pattern by Lalylala, and I'm so pleased with the result!

I used Baby Bee Sweet Delight yarn in colors Naked, Pooltime, Mint Charm, Wild Strawberry, and Violet (from Hobby Lobby), and a size D (3.25mm) hook. I also used metallic green and silver threads with the yarns for the tail (inspired by Lalylala's pattern), and black embroidery floss for the simple baby-safe eyes.

I followed Cinnamon Purl's pattern for the basic body, changing the hair to sewn on circles inspired by Lalylala's pattern. (I bought the Lalylala pattern for this project originally, but the doll was turning out too large with this yarn that I really wanted to use.) For the bathing suit top I just crocheted around both sides of a chain, and sewed yarn tightly around the center to create the bow shape.

Overall I was really happy with how she turned out, and I thought she was a great size for baby hands!

Mermaids seem to be everywhere right now! Do you have any mermaid fans in your life?
