First Owl Amigurumi Prototype!

Untitled

After much trial and error, I finally have this little guy!  It's my first attempt at creating a 3D pattern on my own, and hopefully it's a bit different from the other owl dolls out there!

He's about 8 inches high and about 3 inches wide, with flappy wings that can be posed a little.

My favorite part about him is the scallop design on his body.  I'm a little obsessed with scallops at the moment, and thought they looked a bit feather-like!  To make the design I used the tapestry crochet technique for easier color changes.

So, my question to you my dear friends is, what do you think of him?  Is there anything I should change?  Are the ear tufts a good size?  What about his eye size/placement?  I'm thinking I could also make some body variations, like changing the designs from scallops to something else, or making a shorter rounder body too...

As this pattern is a bit more complex than anything I've done before, depending on the feedback and interest, I may look into writing up the pattern to sell.  Don't get me wrong, I love sharing my patterns for free, but it'd also be exciting to make some money from something I love, providing me more resources to still share some free patterns!

  2. What fun to try out an owl. I really like his flappy wings and scallop design. Though he does look as if he needs to eat a mouse or two! LOL!

  3. very cute! i love the scallop design and the colours! totally makes sense to sell a pattern that you've put a lot of work into, it takes a lot of time and effort to put something together.
