Connie's Garden
The other day I pulled out some yarn and grabbed a hook with the intention of creating a new block to keep my crochet skills from getting rusty. And this is the result! I'm pretty excited about it, so please forgive the repetitive photos!
I started out with the idea that I wanted a textured circle. I thought some popcorns and picots would do the job!
Squaring the rest of the block around the circle proved a little more difficult. But once I narrowed down what I thought the background should look like, (I thought a solid background would go well with and compliment the solid textured circle), it was just a matter of trial and error. I'm glad I stuck with it because I'm really pleased with the result!
Since the colors I grabbed were leftover from the pom pom flowers at my Gram's 93rd birthday party, I'm calling this new block "Connie's Garden." I'm thinking about writing up a tutorial for this block if you guys are interested! (I should probably make sure my tutorial writing skills aren't getting rusty too!)
What about you guys? Have you given yourselves any new creative challenges lately?
Great looking square - very pretty. I haven't come up with any new patterns lately - just haven't been able to think any up. :)
ReplyDeleteI love your new square and especially the popcorn stitch! I also like the two greens with the bright pink! I shall look forward to your tutorial. I've missed them!
ReplyDeleteFunnily enough, I'm also working on the popcorn stitch at the moment from a pattern of a heart. It should look really nice, once I've mastered the heart shape around the bobbles!
Oooooh yes please would love to make this :-)
ReplyDeleteVery pretty :-) I love anything with popcorn stitches, so I'd be interested in a written pattern if you make one. I'm working on assembling some round motifs into a shawl; not really a pattern but out of my comfort zone.
ReplyDeleteLOOOOOOOVE IT !!!!!!!
ReplyDeletethank you for the upcoming pattern!!!! ;oD
xxxxxx Ale
