Christmas Table

Untitled

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday! Christmas is always a busy time of year, and now that it is over, I've been enjoying not doing much at all... which has reminded me how much I have not done with the blog. So, please bear with me as I get back into the swing of things!

And I'll start with a few pictures of our Christmas table...

My sister and I decided to go with a white and bright theme.  The white was particularly refreshing as we did not have a white christmas. Not even close! We also kept it very minimal, which I thought felt like a needed contrast to how hectic it tends to get around this holiday.

I made the simple "Christmas village" (25 buildings in all as my original plan was to have it as an advent calendar as well, but plans change) from maple and painted it with watered down white paint for a white-washed look. (My conscience wouldn't let me completely cover up the maple, but I also knew nothing but white would go. You could still see the grain through the paint so I didn't feel like it was a completely blasphemous thing to do.)

For place cards we made stars from white cardstock using the tutorial found here. We made them with strips that were 4.25 inches long and .25 inches wide, which I think made a nice ornament size.

I thought the table was so pretty with the tea lights, taper candles and strings of little decorative lights we put down the table. When it came time to eat dinner, we dimmed the house lights which made it even prettier! (Found the string lights here on Amazon.)

And the food was delicious! If only I had pictures of the beef, ham, chicken, vegetables, potatoes, stuffing, fruit salad... Oh man, I think I have to go eat some leftovers now!

  1. What a beautiful Christmas table you created - all in white. I love the tea lights and the homemade place-cards (thank you for the link)and the line of tiny lights linking up all your decorations. I got some of those this year and they're called 'angel's hair'! The table must have looked wonderful with the lights dimmed!
