Crocheted Runner

Untitled

I have an actual FINISHED piece to share today! I made this runner as part of a wedding gift recently, and was very happy with it. I used motif no. 31 from the Japanese book Crochet Lace Doily.

Above is a picture of the piece in progress that I shared back in June!

Once I was done crocheting and sewing in ends, it needed to be blocked out. So I pinned it out with T pins and sprayed it with water. The next day I unpinned it...

And voila! I completely spaced on measuring it, but I made it three motifs wide by ten motifs long. It had quite a bit of ends to sew in with the two colors and the joining motifs, but I think it was worth it in the end.

It was an easy pattern to remember, and it was nice that the motifs were joined as you went. I also liked the red and cream combo. But those ends! Why do I always leave them for last? Haha!!

  1. Beautiful finish, Kate! Oh, I love the red and cream together. Just perfect. Ugh, I'm bad about sewing in ends, too, trying to get better.

    1. Thank you so much for the kind words!! I love patterns like this because it looks much more complicated than it really is!

  4. Too lovely for words, you do such beautiful work!! I aspire to have this talent someday! I am wondering if a person is permitted to crochet this item themselves, and if so I am wondering if there was anywhere else besides Etsie there would be to purchase this book. I live in Canada and previous experience has not been good!!
Again, I want to express how stunning it is!!!
    Regards
    Joan

    1. Thank you so much for the kind words Joan!! I'm not sure where else you could get that book. You may be able to search Amazon or ebay?
Mine was purchased from Etsy (by someone else as a gift). If it is coming from Japan it may take a bit longer!
Thanks again, and sorry I couldn't be more help!
