Squares and Rosettes Table Runners

Squares and Rosettes Table Runner

I love looking through vintage pattern books, because there's often really neat patterns that could be altered to give them a little modern update.  I did just that for my Aunt's birthday, making a table runner from a 1970's tablecloth pattern.

Introduction to Photo-Tuesday

Green Powerlines

I thought it might be fun to try a weekly series here on the blog.  So once a week, on the now coined "Photo-Tuesday," I'm going to share a photo that I feel is more creative in and of itself rather than a photo of something I made.  Why Tuesday?  I feel like Tuesday is the left out day of the week.  Monday gets a bad rap, Wednesday is Hump Day, Thursday is the new Friday, Friday has TGIF, and then there's the weekend.  What does Tuesday have?  Nothing until now.  (Ok, fine. "Photo-Tuesday" just sounded the best.)

I will also try to make sure that the photos represents my design aesthetic so that they blend well with the overall look of the blog...  or at least that's the plan.  I want to avoid the blog looking like just a craft blog with random photos.

So welcome to Photo-Tuesday!  This is a picture of some power lines that I took with my phone using the Vignette app, and then Instagram for another filter.  It is so simple, yet it makes me very happy.

WIP Sunday

Circle Motif and Scarf

Today as I continued to plug away on my geometric afghan, I put light blue, teal and coral together, and really liked them.  A little while later I realized they were similar to the colors in a scarf I bought last week.  It made me wonder if I subconsciously put the colors together because I love my new scarf, or if I bought the scarf and put the three colors together because I just really love those colors together...  Or maybe it was purely coincidental.  Do you ever do something like this?

Molly Fyde Scrapghan Block

Drenard Scrapghan Block 1

I know what you're thinking.  Woohoo!  No more neon!  Right?  Well, it was about time I get back to some crocheting anyways!  So today I'm sharing with you another block I made for my Scrapghan, which was inspired by a planet (yes, you read that right), in the incredible Molly Fyde series by Hugh Howey (the same author I talked about here).

Attack of the Neon Dinosaurs!!

Neon Dinos 1

Raaawwrrrr!!!  Have I gone a bit neon mad?  Perhaps.  And what says "photo holders" more than neon dinosaurs?  Nothing that I can think of!

Neon dip-dyed bunnies

So I can lay my obsessive mind to rest for a bit since I was able to somewhat pull off my neon dip-dyed Easter plans!

Neon Instagram
Neon paint makes me a happy panda!
Instagram has come to Android phones!!  I've been so curious about this app since I don't have an iphone, which is funny because I have a macbook and an ipod and love them both...  But anyways, I just started playing around with it and think it could be a great way to practice photo composition since it's a camera that's always with me.

Do you guys have Instagram, and what are your thoughts on it?

I'm Dreaming of a Dip-Dyed Easter...

Dip-Dyed Easter

The problem with being forty-five minutes to an hour away from a craft store is, well, that IS the problem!  I can't just jump in the car willy nilly (yes, I just said "willy nilly") for a trip like that to get a few things, especially with the gas prices as they are.  This, in combination with the fact that once I get an idea in my head it's nearly impossible to get out, causes me to be a sad panda.  In this case, a sad panda in dire need of super bright colors to fulfill her dream of an Easter table decked out in dip-dyed deliciousness.
