Happy Thanksgiving!

Untitled

I hope you all had a lovely thanksgiving, ate lots of yummy food, and were thankful for the family and friends you spent it with!  I have a few shots of our table set for sixteen if you'd like to see!

It was a little hard getting the whole 16 foot table in one shot, but there it is!

We had to rearrange the whole front of the house to be able to fit the two 8 foot tables together!  But I think it was great being able to have everyone at one table!

The burlap runner was made in three pieces 12 inches wide.  My mom sewed around the outside of each to help prevent fraying.

My sister made the cute leaf place cards and wrote the names with a gold colored pencil.

I found this fox at Target and just couldn't pass it up as it kind of went with our white and geometric theme... Perhaps he'll stick around for Christmas as well!

Here's a shot of the table when it started to get a little food...  That cranberry sauce made by my brother-in-law was delicious!  And this is the extent of the photos because who can think of taking pictures once there's a yummy plate of food involved?  Well, not me!

  2. Kate, this looks so fantastic!! I love seeing how it all came together. Festive and modern. I know you had a great time and I'm glad you were able to fit everyone around one table. You have me thinking I should get a bit fancier with my decorations next year. :)

  3. What a lovely table: modern and geometric and sleek! The block candle-holders look fantastic and I love your sister's green leaves with guests names on them.
Mr. Fox looks very slick indeed and fits so well with the rest! Well done!

  7. I hate sitting around a table as I can't stand sitting so close that your elbows touch and you have to listen while they chew and make other revolting noises. For that reason I prefer to sit on the sofa with dinner on my lap. My dislike stems from sitting around the meal table as a child. Yuk.I think there is something wrong with a family if the only time you talk is at the table - all that talking and eating? Double yuk.

    1. I could see why you might be turned off from the table. I like it because for me, taking the time to set the table and sit down brings a little ceremony and more meaning to a meal... making it more than just a meal. It makes the food a little more important, and the people that you have to share it with a little more important. It makes me appreciate the fact that I have food, family and friends.
But to each their own, and I hope you had a great Thanksgiving as well!
