Pineapple Runner

Untitled

How about some more pineapples?!  This is a runner I made for the same bridal shower gift as the last couple of doilies I posted.  I love how it turned out! (Please excuse the poor cell phone pictures, which don't do the piece justice!)

The bride-to-be needed something to go under her tv, so she gave me some dimensions to work within.  After searching for a good size motif that also had some pineapples, I found this motif in a Japanese crochet book I have.  I would give you the name of the book, but the only thing I can make out on the book title is "200."  This motif happens to be #83.  I used Aunt Lydia's size 10 thread in Aqua with a 1.65 mm hook, and joined the blocks by some of the picots as I went.  I left some of the picots free to make a nice design in between the squares.  (At least I think it's nice!)  The finished size is about 24.5 inches by 12 inches.

I love patterns that are made by connecting motifs because the pattern can usually be easily memorized, and the pieces can usually be worked together as you go to save time! It makes for the perfect portable project!  (And this one had some perfectly pretty pineapples!)

  1. Omg, such a nice runner. I love the pinapple pattern. And this year I fall into bits over this iceblu/aqua color. I was young in the 80's and we called it mint then, hated it ever since, but now... Wow.Together with the apricot big Doily from a few days ago it is perfect. wish you a perfect day. Regards from Norway :)
