Modern Geometric Baby Blanket
Hey friends, hope all is well with you! Today I'm sharing this baby blanket I recently finished, and I'm so excited about how it turned out! (I'm so excited that I had to make sure I didn't get too picture crazy!)
I had been on the hunt for awhile for a unique but simple geometric pattern that could be worked for a baby blanket. Granted, my specifications were obviously a little vague, but I couldn't find anything I was happy with. So to solve the problem, I just came up with my own pattern inspired by a graphic design I found on Pinterest (here).
After a bit of math, some sketches, and a bit more math, everything started to fall together. I love when that happens!
I won't lie, as I sewed together the first rows I thought "I hope this works!!"
For the border around the blanket I did a row of reverse single crochet. I just love that stitch for its texture and its simplistic look. It's definitely a go-to border for me.
I'm not quite sure what to call this design, as it's kind of made up of half-hexagons, with a slight chevron feel to it...
It makes me happy to look at it though, and I hope it's going to make baby Zane happy too!
The finished size was about 42 inches square, with straight edges on all four sides. I at first wasn't sure how I wanted to do the top and bottom rows, but I'm glad I decided on making those rows half the size of the four middle rows because it made for some visual interest (that sounds good right?)!
I think this pattern could look pretty sharp in white and black too! Anyways, I'm always super pleased when what I have in my head and what I've drawn on paper comes to fruition in real life!
What do you guys think?
