Granny Arrows Test Squares

Untitled

I've been playing around with a new granny square type pattern...  I'm calling it "Granny Arrows" because to me some of the stitches look like, well, arrows.  I also think there are many directions you could take this pattern (see what I did there? haha).  Let me know what you think of my different experimentations...

I made the first squares with six rounds.  I tried a solid, diagonal, and multi-colored version.

(I love these colors together!)

I joined them with single crochet through the back loops.  I think I like the nice crisp line between the squares.

Since the pattern is repetitive, it could be made bigger or smaller.  Here I tried four rounds in different colors, and using "join-as-you-go," joined them with the same color for the fifth round.  It could be good for making an afghan to use up scraps...

It's a pretty simple variation of the classic granny, but I like it!  What do you think?  What variation do you like best?

Hope you're all having a great week!

  3. I think the diagonal grannies look really cool, I would never have thought of doing that! :) The very last photo you have of the classic granny is my fave, I really like the colour combo you have for it :)

  5. Hard to choose one.I really like the two color (half square diagonal) one, maybe because it is a quilt square too. LOL
