I'm sad to see most of the leaves gone, but I must admit that I like seeing all of the branches that usually go unnoticed!  Do you see a delicate complexity too?

Artist Inspired Pumpkins

Untitled

I've really been slacking in the Halloween department...  But I had to wait for inspiration to strike!  And it has!  I have some pumpkins that are dressed up for Halloween in the style of different artists to share with you until Halloween.  Can you guess which artist might have decorated this pumpkin?

It's Alive!

Untitled

While I was working on this little guy (details soon to follow), I realized I usually only show pictures of finished amigurumis (like Mario and Sonic, Totoro, and the striped giraffe).  So here's a photo of an amigurumi in the putting-together stage, a process I find pretty amusing.  I always feel slightly like a mad scientist with all the body parts laying on the table with all my different surgical tools.  As I'm very focused on the job I can see where it'd be handy to have a nurse or an assistant...  "Igor, scissors!  Needle!  T-pins!"  I also find it funny how the little doll takes on a life of it's own as soon as the eyes are attached.  "It's alive!!! Mwahhhhahaha!"  Sometimes I regret having put on the eyes before I'm done stitching all the openings closed or attaching certain limbs; "well, this is awkward!"  Haha!

Anyone else feel like Dr. Frankenstein when making amigurumis?

"Nothing happens by chance my friend... No such thing as luck. A meaning behind every little thing, and such a meaning behind this. Part for you, part for me, may not see it all clear right now, but we will, before long." - Richard Bach

Today is about the little things.  Do you see the little canoe in the picture above?  It's also in one more picture...  There's also what I presume to be a satellite in the sky in the second to last picture.  And forgetting perspective, doesn't the moon look little?

DIY Pom Pom Flowers and Faux Porcelain Jars

Untitled

Do you ever get an idea in your head that you can't get out until you just do it?  That's what happened here.  I've wanted to paint several jars all white to use for decoration or a table scape.  I've also been trying hard not to fall victim to the pom pom trend that's been hanging around for awhile... but I just couldn't help it.  Pom poms are just so fluffy and happy!

"She had to go on this quest.  The fate of the world might depend on it.  But part of him wanted to say: Forget the world.  He didn't want to be without her." - Rick Riordan, The Mark of Athena

As for the quote, I couldn't help it guys; I (along with lots of people [mostly children]) am so excited that Rick Riordan's The House of Hades (Heroes of Olympus, Book 4) comes out today!!

Are you guys Percy Jackson fans?  Or are there any books that you're anxiously waiting for?

Have an exciting day my friends!  I know I'm going to!

It was so beautiful out today that I made any excuse to be outside... How about taking a few pictures of one of my WIPs outside?  Sure!
