I'm trying to reorganize all my yarns and threads, but I keep getting distracted... I keep picking up yarn and a hook with "what if I try this...." or "there's only so much of this yarn left, what if I just use it up..." Plus, yesterday the bright green book you see above, Masterpieces of Irish Crochet Lace, arrived from Amazon, and I keep peeking through it...
I've been really itching to learn how to do Irish crochet lace! (Just take a peek at all the Irish crochet lace pins on Pinterest... Drool! Those dresses from the early 1900's are jaw dropping.) I pulled out that second little pamphlet book, Irish Crochet Lace from my stack of vintage patterns too. I'm hoping they will serve as motivation to get my yarn organizing done, plus a few other projects done that I already have in the works... I just can't seem to focus and stay with one project lately!
How are you guys doing? Are you getting stuff done? Are there any new crafty techniques you're dying to learn?

Yesterday I took a little walk with my camera to see if I could find some of the leaves that have started to change. I've been in denial that it was time for fall... but once I accepted it, I saw much more color than I did before!

So this is the post I alluded to in the bridal shower post. My dad made this photo booth a couple of years ago for my sister's wedding, and it has been used for two other weddings, and just recently a bridal shower! (You can see the photo booth in action at my sister's wedding here!) For the bridal shower, all it needed was some kitchen props (aprons, chef hat, kitchen utensils, potholders...), a colorful polka dotted shower curtain, a colorful polka dotted backdrop, and some chalk board talk bubbles!

I'm currently listening to the BBC radio version of Adams' book The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul. I read it a few years ago, so it's fun to hear it come to life!
Do you guys like to listen to audio books? I've listened to a few from Librivox.org, which is great site because the books (which are all in the public domain) are read by volunteers, and you can listen for free! I've crafted to Verne, Dickens, Twain, Bronte... It's a great way to "read" those classics you've been meaning to!

Today I'm sharing another make for my friend's bridal shower. (If you're just tuning in, I also made a kitchen wall art piece and a doily and coasters set.) In the invites that we sent out, we included a 4 1/2 by 6 1/2 inch recipe card for people to fill out and bring to the shower! So we needed something to collect all the cards. Here's where I enlisted the help of my dad.

Have you ever gotten up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, stepped off your bed onto a rug which you mistakenly thought was a cat, making you hop around awkwardly on the verge of falling over? Well I did the other night. I decided it was time to replace the fuzzy rug to avoid further confusion. So, I present to you my new un-cat-like crocheted rag rug!
