Crowning Glory Doily

Untitled

My thank you doily is finished!  Considering the pattern name is Crowning Glory, I thought it particularly fitting to have worked on it during the Queen's Diamond Jubilee!  The pattern is from A Year of Doilies, and if you are on Ravelry, the pattern page is HERE.

Tantra Song Inspired Block 5

Tantra Song Inspired Crochet Block 5

Here's the next addition to my Tantra Song inspired blocks.  There's something so appealing to me about the little bit of red not being centered.

Photo-Tuesday

Untitled

Taken Thursday night, this was the beginning of a great weekend on the lake!  Campfires, stargazing, boat rides, games on the beach and cooling off in the water...  I love summer!

Crocheted Vases

Untitled

The crocheted vases for my aunt are done!  I had quite a few projects going at once, and now a couple of them are finished or close.  I finally feel like I'm making some progress!

Rust

Wow, it's Photo-Tuesday already?!  Well, here's a picture of some rust on the top of a white plastic tote lid (with an Instagram filter).  It reminds me of those tantra paintings!  Which then reminds me I have to get back to crocheting some more Tantra Song inspired blocks!  So many projects, so little time!!

Keith Haring Exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum

Keith Haring at Brooklyn Museum

This past weekend I went down to NYC to see the Keith Haring: 1978-1982 exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum (and to visit my sister of course! And let's not forget the shopping too!).  I've been a big fan since I was introduced to him in a Pop Art lesson in my high school art class.  I was immediately drawn the to the simple lines and primary colors, and set out to learn more about him.

Were you guys experiencing strange weather last week?  For a couple of days it seemed like the weather couldn't make up its mind.  One minute it's doom and gloom complete with dark clouds, rain, and even thunder... the next minute the sun is shining and acting as if nothing happened... and then the pattern repeats... repeatedly....

Because of this, I found myself constantly watching the clouds as they were changing shape and color so fast.  I took quite a few pictures of them in their different states of being.  The picture above is of the in between state of the sky seen from my car's sunroof.  I think I love sun showers so much because for just a few minutes, they seem to defy the laws of nature... or at least our expectations of it.

I hope you enjoy whatever kind of weather you are having today!

It was so nice out in the middle of last week, which was great for playing outside while babysitting.  Recently it's been rainy, dreary and dark.  The rain is great for the greenness of everything, but I'd love for it to be warm and bright again, just like this picture...

gift from Crafted by Carly

Speaking of bloggy friends yesterday... look what adorable package came in the mail yesterday!!  It was a thank you gift from one of my bloggy friends Crafted by Carly who was one of the runner up winners in my giveaway.  The packaging was so cute that I had to take a picture before I opened it!!  And see the little Kath Kidston button on the envelope?  I'm going to scrapbook it with all my London pictures!  Now, onto what was inside...

Happy Late Birthday Blog!

Untitled

I forgot my blog's first birthday a few days ago!!  Whoops!  So in (late) celebration of its one year anniversary, I thought it would be fun to make a scrapghan block that would be as closely representative of Signed With an Owl in shapes and color that I could get (in a short amount of time).
